Youth Program

With a great number of working parents in the NVCS core area, the year-round Youth Program provides homework help and fun activities for kids and teens weekday afternoons from 1-6 pm. Grounded in youth development concepts, this program provides students with a safe environment they can call their own. Activities include homework help, supervised reading, organized sports, arts and crafts, gardening, movie nights, enrichments classes, and field trips. Holding themed months, the Youth Program's structured environment responds to the interests and questions of the children that attend, and by helping to plan their own activities, they learn responsibility, empowerment and team work. Held on the campus of NVCS, the program is within easy walking distance of area schools, where the popularity of the program is spread by students and teachers. School age children gain confidence, tolerance and self-assurance learning and playing together.
