Program & Service Partners
California State University, Northridge – Chicano Studies students volunteer 312 hours/year with the agency's Youth Program and also work with the youth's parents to improve family literacy skills.
The Family Literacy Support Network, Los Angeles County Office of Education – Through First 5 LA's Family, Friends & Neighbors Workforce Training Initiative, the support network provides evaluation services, staff training in family literacy, and various program resources.
Friends of the Family (FOF) – Provides an Infant & Toddler course (a 10 week Literacy & Parenting Class) for participants of the Family Literacy Program. FOF also provides 5 Language and Family Literacy workshops to the participants of the Workforce Development Program.
North Valley Occupational Center, Los Angeles Unified School District – North Valley Occupational Center provides an Early Childhood Education Infant/Toddler Studies Course. The course involves theory and hands-on training for the participants of the Workforce Development program.
Providence Holy Cross Medical Center – Provides free community medical clinics at NVCS including glucose, blood pressure & cholesterol screenings.
San Fernando Literacy Council – Provides an instructor for one-on-one tutoring in literacy using the computer and the interactive English program "Rosetta Stone".
Van Nuys Community Adult School, Los Angeles Unified School District – Offers an Adult ESL program for adults with zero or limited English proficiency with beginning, intermediate and advanced ESL levels. Two Adult ESL teachers are provided five days per week, as well as two year-round infant care aides and two additional infant care aides (during summer session).
Volunteer Center of Los Angeles – Refers interested individuals to our agency for volunteer opportunities.
