Volunteer opportunities:

NVCS is always looking for
helpful individuals interested in volunteering. Please see the list
below for different opportunities we have available throughout the
year. If you are interested in donating your time and/or talent, please
contact Ivette Pineda, NVCS’ Outreach Coordinator, at 818/891-0481.
North Valley Caring Services currently has the following volunteer
opportunities available:
1.
Breakfast Program:
Volunteers are needed to help with the cooking, setting up, and serving
of the meals. In addition, help is needed distributing personal hygiene
materials to the homeless who come for the breakfast. Hours: Monday,
Wednesday, and Friday -- 7:00 - 10:00a.m.
2. Early Childhood Education: Volunteers are needed to
assist teachers in the provision of direct early education services to
children aged 0-5. Activities include reading to and playing
educational games with the children, helping to supervise outdoor
activities, and assisting with arts and crafts. Hours: Monday thru
Friday, 8:30am to
12:30pm & 1:30pm to 4:00pm.
3. The Teen
Center/Koolzone: Volunteers are needed after
school to tutor youth (ages 6-12 and 13-19) and assist with homework,
computer usage, arts and crafts, games, and social activities. Hours:
Monday thru Friday, 1:00 to 6:00pm.
4. Sports Activities: Volunteers are needed to help organize
and conduct scheduled sports for youth, including basketball, volleyball, and
indoor soccer. Hours: Monday thru Friday, 1:00 to 6:00pm.
5.
Food Pantry:
Volunteers are needed to help sort and pack donated food items for
distribution to families. Hours: every other week; hours to be
arranged.
6.
Computer and Internet Training: Volunteers are needed to tutor teenagers and some younger
students in learning to use computers and the internet. Hours: Monday
thru Friday, 1:00 to 6:00pm.
