Elementary school youth play games, do homework, and take
enrichment classes. Teens plan their own field trips, movie club, games,
and other activities. The gym is open and staffed for basketball each
evening until 7 p.m. This program serves an average of 51 youth and teens
daily, with a total of 361 participating over the course of a year.

Recycling Class
The purpose of the recycling class is to promote awareness of our environment. This class helps students better understand the impact recycling has on our city, community and on our planet as a whole.

Reading Camp
The purpose of the reading camp is to help students maintain or achieve the correct reading level. During this 30 minute class students read along with a teacher and work to improve reading comprehension, pronunciation, spelling and speed. Students enrolled in this class generally show great improvement in all of these areas, in addition to developing their interest in reading. |

Homework Assistance Program
In the homework assistance program students have the opportunity to do their school homework with the help of a teacher. This one-on-one assistance greatly benefits the students, and their confidence level with their studies. |

Gardening Class
The purpose of this class is to teach the children how to plant, cultivate and harvest a garden. This not only helps them to understand where much of their food comes from, but also provides the opportunity to discuss what foods are good for their bodies. The youth are so proud of their "farm" (a small corner of NVCS' campus).
